Hammer 3400+ may run at 2.6GHz

While consumers can't touch AMD's Hammer chips, they have to be content with written information. And this week new rumors came to surface. The Inquirer cited a piece in Tec Channel which claims that the company's first Clawhammer model 3400+ may run at 2.6 GHz.

It seems that Nico Ernst from Tec Channel saw some videos from the annual Assembly in Helsinki. The event happened recently and counted with famous guests such as Asus, Electronic Arts, Nokia and Sonera. There, AMD engineer Joakim Stenberg would have suggested that the first Hammer will come with a PR rating of 3400+ but with actual frequency of more than 2GHz. "In fact, Nico suggests that Hammer would have to be running at around 2.6GHz to deliver an AMD PR rating number of 3400+," wrote The Inquirer.

The whole Tec Channel article (in German) can be read here.
